Food Services Supervisor/Cook - Burlington, ON

Mount Nemo Christian Nursing Home in Burlington, Ontario is looking for a Food Service Supervisor.   Must be a member in good standing with the CSNM.

 

Position:  Food Services Supervisor/Cook

Position Summary:  Coordinates and supervises the operations of the Food Services Department in accordance with Home policies and MOH-LTC legislation.  This is a full time position with 3 days as the Food Service Supervisor and 2 days cooking.

 

Approximate start date:  June 19th, 2017

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all duties performed by the dietary staff.
  • Supervises and/or prepares all meals and nourishments.
  • Ensures that food is prepared according to standardized menus and recipes.
  • Forecasts menu requirements and prepares production sheets and orders for staff.
  • Ensures that cleaning and safety procedures are followed.
  • Completes regular inventory and grocery orders.
  • Conducts meal rounds, interacting with residents, families and staff.
  • Orients new employees.
  • Resolves routine work problems and grievances.
  • Assists in the staff training and education program.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Clinical Nutrition Duties:

  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date resident meal serving notes.
  • Working with the Registered Dietitian participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Working with the Registered Dietitian attends and/or prepares care conference reports as required.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a member of CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management)
  • Previous cooking experience in a long-term care facility required.
  • Preference will be given for candidate who is a Red Seal Chef
  • Position requires a current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening
  • Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and Point Click Care and the ability to learn other software applications.
  • Must have:  Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills for dealing with all types of people
