Position:  Support Services Manager

Candidate Education and Skills
You have a minimum of three-five years management/leadership experience, preferably in a health care setting.  Red Seal certification or equivalent.  Food Safe Certification.  Successful completion of a Culinary Arts or Nutrition Management diploma or degree.  You have basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel).

Work Hours
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.  Manager On Call duties on a rotating basis.

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Support Services Manager is responsible for the overall management and the day to day operation of the Dietary, Housekeeping, and Laundry functions.  This includes budget control, development and implementation of Policies and Procedures, hiring, supervision, performance management and employee development.    

Some Key Position Responsibilities
Oversees the daily operation of the Support Services departments and provides direct and indirect work supervision of staff through coordination of work routines and evaluation of employee performance.
Assumes responsibility for budget and inventory control of the Support Services departments. Purchases supplies and equipment within the parameters of the designated departmental budget, maximizing cost efficiency, and ensures distribution of supplies and equipment is adequate at all times.
Is responsible for the careful selection and comprehensive orientation of qualified personnel for all Support Service departments.
Manages employee performance on a day-to-day basis, and develops, disciplines and terminates employees as necessary.  Formally evaluates employee performance annually in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Maintains a working knowledge of the Collective Agreement and works toward the goal of maintaining a maximum efficiency in facility operations and promoting harmony between staff and management.
