Nutrition for Seniors

Heather StukaioA healthy and balanced diet is essential to feeling our best at all stages of life. As we age multiple changes occur that can affect our nutritional status putting us at an increased risk for malnutrition. According to the latest Statistics Canada Survey (2016) there are 5.9 million seniors in Canada and this number has grown 20% since 2011! Also, 34% of Canadians aged 65 years or older are at nutritional risk or in other words at risk of poor nutritional status according to statistics Canada. This webinar will allow you to develop an understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy diet as we age. As you listen, you will gain knowledge of the risk factors and consequences of malnutrition in seniors as well as become familiar with what a healthy and balanced diet should look like. By the end of the webinar you will be able to recognize specific vitamin and mineral concerns related to seniors and be aware of other factors to consider for their nutritional health.
