2017 GERONTOLOGY FALL NETWORK WORKSHOP
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2017
8:30 AM—4:00 PM

Please join us for the 2017 Gerontology Network Fall Workshop, November 8th, 2017 at the Elm Hurst Inn & Spa in Ingersoll, Ontario. The focus of this workshop will be on Heather Keller’s ‘Making the Most of Mealtimes’ study and a presentation by Evelyn Spanner on End Stage Renal Disease and Long Term Care.

The Making the Most of Mealtimes (M3) study is the most comprehensive data collection to date worldwide that provides new insights into how we can improve the nutritional care of older adults living in LTC residences. This research provides evidence to back up current best practices while suggesting areas for further development and testing of innovative strategies.

Demand for long term care (LTC) by patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) is likely to increase with growing numbers of seniors initiating chronic dialysis. These patients present some unique nutrition challenges for the RD working in the dialysis unit and for the RD in LTC. This session will focus on the nutrition care of ESRD patients in order to manage their nutrition issues and tailor interventions in LTC to keep the patient eating well.

Registration is limited to the first 150 registrants!
