Job Summary:
The Supervisor performs a leadership role in the provision of Food Services for Valleyview Health Center & Sacred Heart Hospital (McLennan). This position is a part of North West Patient Food Services Supervisors team and reports to the Manager North West, Patient Food Services of AHS.
Responsible and accountable for providing front line patient food services employees with direct supervision, team leadership and organization for day to day food services in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services.
Makes site-level decisions and has direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Nutrition and Food Services (NFS).
Required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
The supervisor is responsible for collaborating with the supervisory team and the Manager for site implementation plans for initiatives and process improvement efficiencies. Responsible to ensure that the sites comply with approved provincial standards and regulatory requirements. Provides leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives, ensuring outcome measurements and standards are enforced. Responsibilities include but not limited to: staff scheduling, maintenance of job routines, payroll documentation and approval, recruitment, training, performance and ability management. Investigates and responds to patient, customer, client and stakeholder concerns. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification:
A minimum of three years in a Food Service Supervisory role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Health care experience an asset.
Post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Nutrition and Food Service Management or Food & Beverage Management
Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Proven organizational, time-management, and decision-making skills.
A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Leadership experience in a food service based industry involving hiring, scheduling and directing work of assigned employees. Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheet programs and email is required. ORACLE, e-people, Meditech and eSysco experience preferred. Experience in a unionized health care environment an asset.
