Manager, Food Services and Environmental Services - Full Time - Cobourg, ON



Position: Manager, Food Services and Environmental Services (Full-time)

Summary of Duties:

Under the direction of the Director, Food Services, Environmental Services, and Medical Device Reprocessing, the Manager, Food Services and Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Food Services and Environmental Services Departments to ensure patients receive exceptional patient care in relation to the environment and food services.

The Manager will maintain a safe and efficient department while maintaining quality standards. The Manager will
maintain effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified and exceptional food service/environmental experience for patients, staff and visitors.

Education Requirements/Qualifications:
• Graduate of a 2 yr community College Program in Food and Nutrition Management or equivalent; University degree preferred.
• Member and active participant of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or other relevant professional association.
• Previous experience in hospital food services/environmental services
• Previous experience with a dietary software system such as Computrition
• Knowledge and experience of union contracts, language and implications
• Knowledge of WHIMIS
• Competent with HACCAP principles

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ensures implementation of decisions within own teams;
• Works collaboratively internally to ensure work is accomplished and stakeholder needs are met;
• Makes decisions with low to moderate degree of risk within the Food Services and Environmental Services Departments;
• Contributes to developing and managing the budget and reporting variances;
• Ability to support continuous quality improvement by completing inspections, evaluations and surveys and implementing initiatives;
• Ability to provide leadership to all areas of the department in line with the operational plan and strategic direction;
• Proven well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with front line and inter-professional staff
• Demonstrated understanding of staffing and scheduling needs including development of schedules, performance management and
   other related managerial responsibilities;
• Ability to drive patient satisfaction and maintain good relationships through daily rounding
• Capability of ensuring compliance to food safety, sanitation and overall workplace safety standards
• Ability to ensure compliance with PIDAC standards and related policies
• Ability to manage and oversee the training and evaluating of staff including the overall departments performance;
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible and handle multiple demands at a time;
• Demonstrated initiative and enthusiasm in a previous/present work experience;
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education;
• Demonstrated knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Word, Email and Excel
