Casual Cook/ Dietary Aide

We are looking for candidates who are available to work various shifts (days, evenings, weekends and holidays) No guarantee of hours.

RESPONSIBILITY

• Reports to Food Service Supervisor. 
• Ensure proper meals are prepared and served on time according to the standardized menu.
• Check daily production sheets, therapeutic menus and resident diet lists.
• Mince and puree food for residents
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas
• Clean cooking equipment as needed
• Wash own pots and pans used during food cooking and preparation
• Complete audits ex: food temperatures, fridge/freezer temperatures etc.
• Prepare meals for occasional catering events or special functions
• Direct dietary aides and assist in the purchasing and receiving of food and supplies.
• Complete in-service education sessions 

QUALIFICATION

• Food Handler Certificate 
• Completed Food Service Worker Certificate or must be registered in the course.
• Red Seal preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in a food preparation environment in the long term care setting.
• Knowledge of the Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) program and therapeutic diets. 
• Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English
• Must be physically able to perform all delegated duties.
