SUMMARY:CSNM Webinar - Andrew Haley - Built Ready: Resilience\, Precision & Leadership in Nutrition
DESCRIPTION:Date: May 6\, 2026 – 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT\nCE Point:  Competency 1.0 \nTitle:\n\nBuilt Ready: Resilience\, Precision & Leadership in Nutrition \nDescription:\nNutrition and foodservice leaders work in one of the most demanding\, high‑stakes environments in healthcare. Every tray\, every allergy check\, every handoff\, every decision — it all matters. And while the work is often unseen\, its impact is life‑changing. \nIn this powerful and practical webinar\, Paralympic champion Andrew Haley shares how resilience\, preparation\, and precision shaped his journey from a childhood hospital bed to the top of the podium — and how those same principles define excellence in nutrition leadership today. Through compelling storytelling and direct links to CSNM’s core competencies\, Andrew reveals how elite performance isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency\, systems\, teamwork\, and the ability to “build ready” long before the moment of pressure arrives. \n\nParticipants will explore the rhythm of resilience (Adapt–Recover–Recommit)\, the parallels between high‑performance sport and high‑performance nutrition systems\, and the essential leadership behaviours that strengthen teams\, protect patients\, and elevate care. They’ll also be reminded of something profound: you may never meet the people you save — but your work saves them anyway. \nThis session will leave nutrition professionals feeling seen\, valued\, and equipped with a renewed sense of purpose\, professionalism\, and pride in the work they do every day. \n\nPresenter: \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Andrew Haley\nI am on a journey to inspire and teach as many leaders as possible to commit to their own GOLD MEDAL MOMENT. I want to encourage my audience to never give up and strive to achieve both personal and professional excellence that will help guide them to reach their full potential. I’ve had many setbacks in my life\, including losing part of my right leg as a child to cancer and being given only a 35% chance to survive. I didn’t want to just survive\, though; I wanted to show people I could be something special despite my circumstances. As a competitive swimmer\, I would become a World and Paralympic champion\, and that eventually led to a hall of fame career. \nHow we show up every day is important to me\, and I am fired up when I can deliver tangible strategies to help my audience pursue their own dreams. I learned that success is built on preparation and having a champion’s mindset\, combined with controlling the controllable. This is available to anyone who wants to win in life. My job is to guide you to get there one day at a time.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:CSNM Webinar: Functional Foods: A Practical Framework for Every Setting
DESCRIPTION:Date: September 17\, 2026 – 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT\nCE Point:  Competency 4.0 \nTitle:\n\nFunctional Foods: A Practical Framework for Every Setting \nDescription:\nEvery ingredient on your menu is already functional — it feeds people. The question this session asks is whether it’s functional in the deeper sense too: actively supporting immunity\, cognition\, and wellness\, not just calories on a plate. Some of the most powerful functional ingredients sound like supplement-aisle science. In practice\, they’re often just dinner. This session gives CSNM members a clear\, evidence-informed way to spot the difference between what’s simply good cooking and what deserves a second opinion — across every setting\, from long-term care and hospitals to schools\, community health\, and the supplier side. \nThis isn’t about adding more to your plate. The sights\, sounds\, and smells of one of the world’s most celebrated food cultures shaped everything about how he cooks and how he teaches. Raised by his Aunty “Ma” and his father\, a librarian\, he became a lifelong learner — and that’s exactly how he built his career. By doing. His brother Charles carries the family calling a a chef with Amtrak\, cooking his way across the country on the rails. \nHis career took him across North America\, managing and cooking at restaurants and bistros in the U.S. and Canada\, until a pivotal meeting changed everything. In 2005\, he was hand-picked by Peter Boyd\, CEO of Arcis\, off a salmon seeker in the Queen Charlotte Islands. Boyd wanted to build a Google-like culture at his company and believed food was the way to do it. Joseph came to Calgary and built exactly that — a café woven into the fabric of the company. They won Calgary Inc.’s Best Place to Work award. Peter became a mentor and a friend\, and Joseph feels his influence to this day. \nIn 2015\, Joseph moved to Matrix Environmental Solutions\, cooking daily for 150 employees. When COVID sent everyone home and closed the bistro\, he didn’t sit still. He set up a studio in his own kitchen\, got the word out with help from family and friends\, and Chef Joey was born. \nThe response was immediate. Five-star reviews. A write-up in Avenue Magazine. A feature by Food Network Canada. Named one of the best culinary experiences in Calgary by The Best Calgary. \nJoseph currently lives in Calgary with his pn — in Amsterdam\, California\, and Calgary — and is now a proud grandpa. He’s a practicing Buddhist\, a lifelong reader and picks up his guitar whenever the day allows. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Date: November 3\, 2026 – 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT\nCE Point:  Competency 5.0 \nTitle:\n\nYou’re Not Behind (Yet): Smart\, Human Ways to Work with AI \nDescription:\nAI is already changing how work gets done. But how does it feel from where you’re sitting? Are you confidently experimenting\, cautiously curious\, or quietly wondering where to even start? If you’ve tried AI and the results felt generic\, if you don’t have time to figure it out\, or if you’re overwhelmed by the sheer number of tools out there – this talk is built around those exact problems. Margaux Miller is a global event host and MC who spends her career on stages alongside AI founders\, engineers\, and the people building this technology. She’s a solo business owner who uses AI tools every day to save time and run her business. In this keynote\, she shares what she’s learned from both worlds – the people building AI and the professionals actually using it – in a way that’s practical\, honest\, and immediately useful. Through live demonstrations\, real stories (including the time she literally shared a stage with an AI avatar in Dubai)\, and photo-worthy reference slides\, attendees will learn how to personalize AI so it actually sounds like them\, how to use it to clear busywork and be more present in their key work\, and how to match the right tool to the right task instead of asking one tool to do everything. No jargon. No hype. No pressure to become an “AI expert.” Just clear\, human guidance and a few tools you can try this week. \nWhat Attendees Will Take Away: \n\nHow to set up a personal “voice file” so AI tools actually reflect how you think\, write\, and communicate\nPractical prompting habits that work better than memorizing “magic prompts”\nWhat you need to know about AI safety and data privacy before putting anything into these tools\nA curated tool map matching specific tasks to specific tools – so you stop using ChatGPT for everything and start getting better results with less effort\nReal use cases for saving time right now\nA realistic “baby steps” framework for getting started\n\n\n\nPresenter: \n\n\n\nMargaux Miller\n\nMargaux Miller is a global MC and event host specializing in tech\, innovation\, and startup events. She’s hosted stages from GITEX Global in Dubai (the world’s largest tech event) to South Summit in Madrid and Brazil\, and has moderated conversations with leaders from OpenAI\, Google DeepMind\, and more. Her TEDx talk on human connection is a TED Editor’s Pick with 500K+ views. With 10+ years in the tech industry – including a startup acquisition and leading a global community of 20K+ freelancers across 140 countries as Global Director of Community at Toptal – Margaux brings both technical fluency and the ability to make complex ideas feel approachable and human.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
