Requirements Your path to membership starts here To receive your membership with CSNM, you’ll need to fulfill the requirements below.  Canadian applicants In order to be eligible for membership as a Canadian applicant, you must fulfill one of the two following conditions: Graduation from a CSNM-accredited program in food service and nutrition management + Complete the application for a Professional Membership https://my.csnm.ca/client/subscription/subscriptionEdit.html?productId=5632  Provide payment of the non-refundable application fee Provide a copy of your diploma/degree as proof of successful completion of the program Please note: If you apply for Professional Membership more than two years from your graduation date, you’ll also be required to include a copy of the transcript of marks and will be required to write and pass the CSNM Entrance Exam. Graduation from a post-secondary program other than one of our accredited programs + It must be demonstrated that your program contains essential elements of food service and nutrition management Complete the application for a Professional Membership https://my.csnm.ca/client/subscription/subscriptionEdit.html?productId=5632  Provide payment of the non-refundable application fee Provide proof of successful completion of the college or university program by providing: A copy of the degree/diploma  A copy of the transcript of the marks A copy of the course syllabus and/or course description (showing courses taken covering the CSNM Entry Level Competencies) NEW: Provide proof of English or French Language Requirements Please note: If candidates meet the above criteria, they must write and pass the CSNM examination. Apply Now International applicants These are the requirements for international applicants who have graduated from a non-accredited program. Application requirements + Complete the application for Professional Membership Provide payment of the non-refundable application fee Provide proof of successful completion of the college or university program by providing: A copy of the degree/diploma  A copy of the transcript of the marks A copy of course syllabus and/or course description (showing courses taken covering the CSNM Entry Level Competencies) A report from a Credential Evaluation Service NEW: Provide proof of English or French Language Requirements Please note: If candidates meet the above criteria, they must write and pass the CSNM examination. Report from a credential evaluation service + International applicants are also required to have your documents (diploma/degree, transcripts and course syllabus and/or course outline) assessed by a Credential Evaluation Service. We will require the basic or general report to evaluate your application, and this report must be submitted in addition to the copies of your diploma/degree and transcripts. Here are some examples of the Credential Evaluation services that are available: British Columbia Institute Technology (BCIT)  International Credential Assessment Service (ICES) of Canada World Education Services (WES) Apply Now Proof of English or French language requirements Applicants will be required to provide documented proof of minimum English or French skills before being eligible to write the CSNM Entrance Examination in their chosen language of English or French. Applicants exempt from providing this information are graduates from a CSNM Accredited Program and Registered Dietitians (from Canada). Acceptable proof of English includes: + A minimum grade of 70% in a Canadian secondary school grade 12, or 30 level, or higher (post-secondary college/university) English language course Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL CE and online) minimum score of 60 Duolingo English Test minimum score of 105 International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum score of 6.0, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each skill band Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) minimum score of 54, with a minimum score of 50 in each skill band Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 80, with a minimum score of 20 in each skill band Cambridge English Test minimum score of 169, with a minimum of 162 in each skill band Acceptable proof of French includes: + A minimum grade of 70% in a Canadian secondary school grade 12 or 30 levels, or higher (post-secondary college/university) French language course Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) minimum level of B1. This includes a minimum of B1, or as listed below, for any of the following tests: TFI: Test de français international – minimum score of 160 listening comprehension and a minimum of 185 reading comprehension DELF: Diplôme d’études en langue française- B1 or B2 diploma (not A1 or A2) DALF: Diplôme approfondi de langue française- diploma is C2 (higher than B1 skills) TCF: Test de connaissance du français tout public -minimum of B1/ score of 300 TCFQ: Test de connaissance du français pour le Québec- minimum score of B1/ score of 300 TCF DAP: Test de connaissance du français- minimum score of B1/score of 300 TEF/eTEF: Test  d’évaluation du français- minimum score of B1/score of 300 TEF Canada (or eTEF Canada) : Test d’évaluation du français Canada- minimum score of B1/score of 300 TEFaQ (or eTEFaQ): Test d’évaluation du français pour l’accès au Québec- minimum score of B1/ score of 300 Maintaining your membership To maintain your membership with CSNM and continue to take advantage of our exclusive member benefits, it is necessary to: Earn Continuing Education (CE) points Nutrition Managers - 8 points per year, one in each competency area Certified Nutrition Managers - 16 points per year, at least one from each competency area with the remaining 8 from at least 4 different competencies. Renew your membership by March 31 The CSNM membership year runs from April 1 - March 31 and our invoices for membership renewals are distributed in January.  In order to determine if you’re eligible to renew, our CE points collection period has to end in December to ensure our members attain the appropriate CE points to renew.  Invest in your membership Pay your member fees according to our Fee Schedule.
