We are currently seeking an exceptional individual to fill a key management position, a role that is pivotal in bringing our core values of positivity, accountability, community, and caring to life. In this capacity, the Director of Dietary plays a crucial role. Through leadership excellence, the successful candidate will not only manage their department's budget but also ensure that their team delivers exemplary service. What You Will be Doing:

 

Menu Planning & Nutritional Oversight:

• Develop and oversee the implementation of menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents 

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and dietary guidelines, including therapeutic diets and food safety standards

• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address the nutritional needs of individual residents 

Team Member Management & Training:

• Train, supervise and evaluate dietary team members, including cooks and dietary aides 

• Provide ongoing training to team members to ensure competence in food preparation, sanitation and customer service 

• Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, communication and mutual respect among dietary team members 

 

Budget & Inventory Management:

• Manage the dietary department budget, including food purchasing, labour costs and supplies to ensure operations are cost-effective 

• Monitor food inventory levels and implement control measures to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization 

• Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising the quality or nutritional value of meals provided to residents 

 

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial and local regulations governing food service operations in the home 

• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food production, inventory management and resident dietary preferences 

• Participate in regulatory inspections and audits, addressing any deficiencies and implementing corrective actions as needed 

 

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:

• Implement quality assurance measures to monitor and evaluate the quality, presentation and service of meals provided to residents 

• Solicit feedback from residents, families and team members to identify areas of improvement and implement changes accordingly 

• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in the field of dietary services and nutrition 

 

Who You Are: 

• Completion of a Food Service Nutrition Management Certificate, from a recognized educational institution  

• Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (Student memberships are not applicable)

• Experience in senior health, specifically Long Term Care 

• You have strong people management skills that can guide, motivate and supervise a diverse team while also being able to delegate tasks effectively 

• Can demonstrate patient, understanding, and able to connect with both residents and their families 

• You are able to think quickly, adapt to changing situations, and resolve issues efficiently 

• Possess effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, manage budgets and ensure the smooth operation of the department
