Title:

From Standards to Action: Advancing the Adoption of National Nutrition and Food Service Standards in Long-Term Care

Description:
DC (Dietitians of Canada), GN(Gerontology Network) Long-Term Care Advocacy Working Group and Canadian Society of Nutrition Managers are dedicated to promoting the awareness and adoption of the Recommended National Standards for Long-Term Care Nutrition and Food Services (2022) among stakeholders across Canada.

We invite Nutrition Managers to join this webinar to strengthen their capacity to advocate for the implementation of these standards within long-term care homes, health systems, and provincial decision-making structures. Participants will gain practical tools, resources, and strategies to effectively engage key stakeholders and support system-level changes that enhance nutrition care, resident well-being, and quality of life for seniors living in long-term care.

This webinar empowers Nutrition Managers to move from awareness to actions supporting consistent, evidence-informed nutrition and food service practices nationwide.

After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the purpose, scope, and value of the Recommended National Standards for Long-Term Care Nutrition and Food Services (2022) and their role in improving nutritional well-being, safety, and quality of life for residents across Canada.
  2. Identify key stakeholders, advocacy opportunities, and leverage points within your organizations, regions, and provinces to support the adoption and implementation of the standards.
  3. Apply practical advocacy tools and communication strategies to effectively engage long-term care operators, healthcare leaders, and government decision-makers in advancing these standards.
  4. Develop an actionable advocacy plan tailored to your local or provincial context to support uptake of the national standards.
