My nutrition career began with earning an HBSc in Foods and Nutrition from Western University in 2001. It was during this time that I fell in love with cooking and decided to change course slightly and pursue my passion for creating food. Immediately following university, I attended George Brown College, earning a diploma in Culinary Management in 2003. After many gruelling hours in kitchens across the city, I proudly became a certified red seal cook.

I started my career in healthcare at West Park Healthcare Centre in Toronto, where I worked my way up from a cook to Production Supervisor. I owe a great deal of gratitude to my development during my time there. I was given a lot of responsibility that paved the way to becoming a manager. From this role, I transitioned to the Manager of FNS at Baycrest, learning about all things Kosher from a fully scratch-cook kitchen.

Two years ago, I moved over to CAMH, serving an entirely new population with different needs. Serving clients suffering from mental health conditions has been a truly rewarding experience. At CAMH, the patients are treated with the dignity they deserve and I am honoured to be a part of their road to recovery.

Judy Kirby has recently begun her role as a Continuous Quality Improvement Manager at Holland Christian Homes, where she oversees two long-term care homes and six apartment buildings catering to the older adult community. Her responsibilities include analyzing data, implementing quality improvements, and ensuring the highest standards of care and service for residents and tenants.

Prior to this role, Judy spent five years as a Dietary Manager for a 160-bed long-term care home, which also provided meals to tenants from the apartment complex and operated a community snack bar. Her career in retirement and long-term care began in 2003, following a diverse range of roles in the food industry. Discovering her passion for working with seniors, Judy pursued education in Nutrition Management.

She started her journey as a meal attendant in the retirement sector and later worked as a dietary aide in long-term care, eventually training as a cook. With encouragement from her manager, she advanced her career by becoming a Nutrition Manager in long-term care after graduating from the Canadian Healthcare Association. In 2008, she secured her first position as a Nutrition Manager for a 96-bed long-term care community.

Judy’s career continued to flourish as she became the Regional Culinary Nutrition Manager in 2013, overseeing 14 long-term care homes with Nutra Services, serving Jarlette Health Services. In addition to her expertise in nutrition, she also obtained her Long-Term Care Administrator Certificate from the Canadian Healthcare Association.

In 2019, Judy decided to slow down and focus on managing a single home, where she currently works. Her goal is to support the best possible care in long-term care homes and eventually retire within the industry. With over two decades of experience, Judy remains dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors through quality care and innovative improvements.

Kaila is a Registered Dietitian with experience in clinical nutrition and has held various leadership roles in healthcare food service settings, including Manager of Food & Nutrition Services, Administrative Dietitian, Supervisor of Food Production Services and Supervisor of Support Services. She also holds fundamental culinary skills and broad food-based knowledge through her work as a cook in commercial kitchens.

As a Non-Commercial Business Solutions Specialist with Gordon Food Service, she utilizes her hands-on experience and unique skill set in food service operations and servant leadership to support healthcare and senior living customers across Canada. Kaila has an unwavering passion for enhancing the well-being and quality of life of residents and patients.

Christine graduated from George Brown College in 2000 and started working immediately as a Food Service Supervisor/Cook in a Disability Support Home. She has worked in Acute Care, Mental Health and in Long Term Care as a Supervisor and for the past 5 years as the Manager in a Municipal Home. Christine joined the Accreditation team just before the COVID pandemic and was able to participate in a virtual accreditation process.

For the last 14+ years, I’ve dedicated my career to long-term care, working to improve food and nutrition services, quality processes, and overall resident experiences. I started in this field because I believe that food is more than just nutrition – it is about comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible teams to enhance meal service, streamline operations, and ensure compliance with evolving standards. 

Currently, I work as a Quality Services Coordinator, where I focus on improving processes, supporting staff, and ensuring policies align with best practices. I’m excited to apply for the Secretary/Treasurer position on the CSNM Board of Directors because I know firsthand how important strong financial oversight and clear policies are in keeping an organization running effectively. When I’m not working or studying, I love spending time with family, exploring new food experiences, and always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally. I’d be honored to bring my experience, dedication, and passion for quality improvement to this role and look forward to the opportunity to contribute.

To clear any confusion, My name is Jennifer-Amie but I go by “Jamie”. I started my working years in a variety of places trying to determine what it was I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Worked anywhere from 4600 feet underground in a mine to training show jumpers and teaching horseback riding lessons. In 2006 I was a stay-at-home mom until the day my husband came home with lay-off papers. I found a job at a long-term care home as a Dietary Aide. My love for the Dietary department grew from there. 

Later training as a cook followed by completing the Food Service and Nutrition Management program through the CHA. I later moved on to become the Support Services manager managing Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance and Dietary in our 177-bed home. In 2018 my family and I relocated to Kingston where I continue to be a Nutrition Manager in Long Term Care. Through all the career paths my earlier years have brought me, My passion lies in the Dietary Department and the continuing evolution of my role.

I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I started my working life when I was still in high school working at Saskatoon City Hospital in the Food and Nutrition Department. I had no plans of choosing a career in Food Services, I was only going to work for a couple of years and then go to post-secondary school. Well, fast forward 19 years…I had tried several different jobs in the Saskatchewan Health Authority but after encouragement from a couple of my supervisors and managers, I decided to take the next step and return to school to earn my Nutrition Manager Diploma. I took my schooling through CHA in Ottawa and worked full-time while I was completing my 2-year course. It was a lot of hard work but the end result was worth it. 

I was lucky enough to get my current job only a few short months after I graduated in 2009 and have been in this role ever since. My job is challenging but also very rewarding. In my personal life, I have been married to my husband Greg since 2015. I have a 10 year old and a 2 year old grandson and a third grandson arriving in September!. We have two fur babies Ellie and Cali and we love to spend time at our cabin at Struthers Lake.

Growing up in a small community gave me the opportunity to get into a food services role at a young age. I realized that I loved this work, it’s meaningful to help people within the community, but it also allowed me to practice something I loved doing, cooking while providing a great experience for those in our care.

I spent almost 10 years working as a food service worker, starting in high school. In 2015, with a push from my supervisor at the time, I enrolled in the Nutrition Manager program at Bow Valley College. After completing my studies, I moved into an admin support role within patient food services, then into a supervisor role, before landing in my current role as Manager for Food, Linen and Environmental Services.

I love the work that my teams and I do every day. Most of my career has been in rural Long Term Care, I have found great passion in enhancing services in our small communities. I continually strive to improve and collaborate to create the best possible experience for those in our care.

I joined CSNM in 2018 and joined the Board of Directors in 2023. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know the board, our members, and our partners throughout this experience!

Michelle Toueini has been working in the food service industry for over 12 years. Michelle studied at Humber College and received a Diploma in Culinary Management. She then pursued her interest in nutrition and completed her Diploma in Food and Nutrition Management and received the Program Coordinator’s Award. She started out as a cook in restaurants and catering, but she eventually ventured her way into Healthcare Foodservices. Michelle worked as a Patient Food Service Supervisor and an IT Coordinator in Acute Care for over 4 years. 

She currently belongs to the CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management) organization and has been a member for 10 years. Michelle was able to bring her experience, knowledge and passion for Nutrition, software, and Information Technology into her role as Menu and Compliance Coordinator at Complete Purchasing Services. She works with the menu team to help execute the CPS seasonal/annual menus and train clients nationwide on menu implementation.

Twenty-three years ago, I was offered a position in the Dietary Department as a server in the Retirement area of the home. I embraced this position and trained in every area of dining. I took on the role of server and dietary aide and then went on to the Cook’s position. I then applied for the Head Cook role and took pride in offering the best meals possible for the Residents. I was given the opportunity to enroll in the Food Service Nutrition Management course. 

Each day I can honestly say it is my pleasure to arrive at our home; some days are great, and some days hold sorrow. Years ago, an acquaintance said, “Anne, you should be proud to have a job with meaning and purpose.” I often say this quote to new team members; it is an honour to make a resident’s day just a little brighter!!

My name is Lindsay Mallory. I graduated from the Professional Cooking Program at SAIT in 2003 and have worked in the food industry for most of my career. Currently I am a Culinary Supervisor at Silvera for Seniors. I have worked in our smallest building with 50 residents to our biggest building with 267, currently I work mostly out of our memory care building, which is the closest building to LTC that we have.

In 2022, I won second place in the CSNM Student Competition and attended the Conference in Saskatoon. I had no idea the CSNM world was so big until then, and I knew I wanted to get involved. The support and connections I made there were amazing.

I grew up in Bobcaygeon ON, I moved to Calgary AB in 1996 where I still live today. Bobcaygeon is my happy place, I make my way there every summer to relax.

I live with my partner, 2 kids and 4 dogs. I have a 13 year old daughter who loves to Figure Skate and an 11y/o son who loves to play hockey. I play beer league hockey myself, so most of my free time is spent in Arenas. My partner and I like to listen to podcasts and have dabbled in recording one ourselves. I enjoy spending time with my family, riding my bike and walking my dogs.

My greatest passion is supporting healthier living by providing nutritious, high-quality meals to those we serve. I believe food plays a vital role in healing, wellness, and dignity especially within healthcare settings.
Since moving to Canada, I have dedicated my career to the healthcare sector, working in retirement homes, acute care, and long-term care across Ontario and Nova Scotia. These experiences have given me a strong, well-rounded understanding of food service in healthcare.

I graduated from the Nutrition and Food Service Management program at Centennial College and currently work as a Food Service Supervisor. I joined CSNM during my studies, where I gained valuable knowledge, confidence, and professional connections.

I am honoured to serve as the Atlantic Provincial/Territorial Representative. My focus is to support CSNM’s vision, strengthen regional networking, increase awareness of CSNM’s resources, and help members expand their expertise.

Through collaboration, I believe we can continue to advance our profession and ensure high-quality food services across all healthcare settings.

I am passionate about supporting and advocating for nutrition management professionals in our province.

As an Operations Manager, I have developed strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that make me well-suited for this position. I have successfully led teams, managed budgets, implemented best practices, and ensured compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, my ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and advocate for the importance of nutrition services aligns with CSNM’s mission to promote excellence in our field.

By stepping into this role, I aim to support my fellow CSNM members in British Columbia by providing relevant updates, facilitating engagement, and advocating for the needs of our profession. My experience in operations, leadership, and strategic planning will allow me to effectively represent our province and contribute to the continued success of CSNM.

Growing up with parents who worked in Senior Living, I started volunteer work with seniors at the age of 12 and have stuck with it ever since!

I have worked in Long Term care for 27 years with the last 17 years in Management roles overseeing dietary, environmental and maintenance services. I completed the Food Service & Nutrition Management Program with the Canadian Healthcare Association in 2014, joining the CSNM in 2016.

I am thankful for the opportunities I’ve had working in some wonderful homes; each role a journey for growth while building lasting relationships with team members and Residents. As a Nutrition Manager, it is a privilege to do something I love and provide for our elders in the same light I’d expect for my loved ones.

When not working, I enjoy spending time with family, friends and feline bestie; Sweetheart.

Madison has been involved with CSNM for five years now, first joining as a student member in 2017. After placing twice in the CSNM Student competition, she took on the role of Chair Of The Student Competition for two years, ending in Spring 2021. In 2019, Madison attended her first CSNM Conference held in Alberta. It was here where her passion for CSNM was intensified, and her plans for a strong career including life-long learning was solidified. Madison completed her clinical placement with St. Joseph’s Health Care London and was hired soon after as a part-time Food Services Supervisor with them. She has quickly expanded her work experience, obtaining valuable experience in both a Long Term Care and Hospital setting. 

Her goals when participating on the Board of Directors are to increase participation from new graduates and younger members to support the future of CSNM and to demonstrate the benefits and fun that come with membership. When she’s not at work, Madison loves spending time with her new puppy Charlie, being active, and spending time outdoors with her friends, Fiance, and family.

My very first job was working in a restaurant, and I have been working with food in some capacity ever since. Currently, I work at the Saskatoon Public School Division as the Manager of School Food Programs. This role is tasked with planning and implementing a universal lunch program at various schools across the division. 

Prior to that, I taught in the Food and Nutrition Management Program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic for 8 years. I have formal training in Food and Nutrition, Business Administration, and Adult Teaching and Learning.

With a robust foundation in healthcare, particularly in long-term care and hospital settings, I have dedicated my career to enhancing food and nutrition management services. My journey began with a Food and Nutrition Management diploma, emphasizing Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition Services. 

Over the years, I have accumulated a wealth of experience working in both the healthcare and government administration industries. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a commitment to improving healthcare services through strategic planning, staff training, and rigorous quality control. My expertise spans food safety, quality auditing, healthcare management, and data analysis, all aimed at delivering high-quality healthcare services.
