Connecting Through Humour: Why Laughter Means Business in the Digital Age

It’s never been easier to communicate and never been harder to connect. Between emails, virtual meetings, slack, social media, it’s no wonder that burnout, stress and loneliness are at all-time highs, and trust is at an all-time low.

Instead of hiring the latest strategic communications firm, or spending countless hours learning how to train AI bots to communicate for you, what if you could learn some simple and easy tools to implement immediately that would drive connection and results?

Research shows that laughter and levity are some of the most powerful ways to build meaningful connections, increase trust, reduce stress, and enhance employee engagement and performance.

In this engaging and enlightening keynote, veteran comedian Kate Davis demystifies what makes us laugh and provides practical techniques for using humour to truly make an impression whether it’s with clients, customers, co-workers, family, or friends. And if she makes you laugh in the process, it was almost certainly on purpose.

Work Smarter, Not Harder:
Rethinking Foodservice Operations with Rational Technology
Healthcare and long-term care foodservice teams are being asked to do more with less, less time, fewer staff, and increasing expectations for quality, consistency, and resident satisfaction. But working harder is not always the answer. Sometimes, we need to rethink how we work. This presentation explores practical ways to work smarter by looking at production methods, workflow, labour utilization, and the strategic use of technology. Using real-world examples from healthcare and long-term care foodservice, we will explore how Rational cooking technology can help teams simplify production, improve consistency, reduce manual tasks, and make better use of their existing workforce. From batch cooking and cook-chill production to retherm and finishing, we will look at how the right equipment, combined with the right processes, can create efficiencies without compromising food quality or the dining experience.

The goal is simple: not to work harder, but to work smarter.
