IDDSI
Supporting an important initiative
CSNM supports the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) and we’re grateful for all the tremendous work that has been completed to date. We proudly provide resources to help nutrition managers implement this vital initiative.

About the IDDSI
The IDDSI was founded in 2012 to develop international standardized terminology and definitions for texture modified foods and thickened liquids for persons with dysphagia. It was made possible by a diverse group of dedicated volunteer professionals from around the world, including:
The initiative will have a positive outcome for all. This is especially true for our nutrition manager members who are working toward improved resident and patient care on a daily basis.
IDDSI in Canada
In 2019, Canada started to implement the IDDSI framework in healthcare facilities and community settings across the country. CSNM encourages our members to become familiar with the IDDSI system and evaluate how best to integrate these standards where possible in their workplaces.
