Scope of practice 

Since the start of nutrition management programs across the country, the role of nutrition managers has grown and evolved. 

In our current system, the nutrition manager:

  • Works with the registered dietitians to provide nutrition care to patients and clients 
  • Is a for patients at low to moderate nutrition risk
  • Is a liaison between food service and clinical nutrition

Professional Standards

From our core competencies to our Code of Ethics, all nutrition managers must maintain a certain professional standard in order to be a part of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.

Continuous Lifelong Learning

To maintain membership, each individual must achieve 8 Continuing Education points per year. For the Certified Nutrition Manager, there is a requirement for 16 Continuing Education points per year. This shows a higher level of development and a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
